Year 9 Options - Assessment Week
Year 9 Options - Assessment Week: 23-27 November, 2020
Dear Parents / Carers,
In January, students will begin the journey of choosing their option subjects for Key Stage 4.
To begin this process, students will shortly be sitting important assessments in all subjects. These exams would normally take place in the exam hall, but due to current restrictions, we have made the decision to hold them in class.
These assessments are important because teachers will assess progress and students’ results will be used to inform setting and option choices for the following academic year.
Students’ conduct during assessments must be perfect. Students have been told that they must adhere to usual examination protocol. Failure to do so will result in them being removed from the assessment and a member of senior staff called and making contact with home.
Appropriate Examination Conduct
- As they enter the classroom, students must do so in silence. They must take their seats quickly without talking or communicating to others.
- Students should have the correct equipment for each exam: 2 pens (black ink), pencils, rubber, ruler and any other subject specific equipment. Equipment should be kept in a plastic, see-through bag. We will not lend students equipment.
- Mobile phones must be switched off and either left at home, or in their bags- not on their person.
We hope that all students achieve well in their exams. Good results should show students what they are capable of achieving; disappointing results should encourage students to take responsibility for their progress and address areas that need improving.
