New Year 7 Students - September 2022
Updated 5th July 2022
We look forward to meeting our new Year 7 cohort on their first day on Monday 5th September 2022 as they begin their journey through secondary school. It is an exciting time for your child, and they will have many opportunities and experiences ahead of them.
We have enjoyed meeting our new students and their parent/carer at their interviews that were held in June. If you have not yet had an interview and are expecting your child to start at Southfields Academy in September, please email email@example.com
On Induction Day, Mrs Frost, Head of Year 7 (i22) gave out some Summer Holiday Homework for students to complete.
You can download it by clicking the button below.
Our teaching staff have also made a number of visits to our larger feeder primary schools to meet some of our new students and their Year 6 teachers. Experience shows us that gathering as much information as possible before a child starts helps with a smooth transition to secondary school and also gives the child a familiar face to look out for on their first day. In addition to this, we have very much enjoyed meeting many of the students at Induction Day, which took place on Tuesday 5th July.
We will also be holding a Summer School which will take place during the week beginning Monday 25th July 2022. You will find further details about this here Summer School Letter
To order uniform, please visit this page. The uniform shop will also be open on selected dates over the summer. These dates will be available at your child’s interview and will be published here when they have been confirmed.
Primary to Secondary Transition
We know that moving from primary to secondary school can sometimes be a big step for a child, and their parents or carers, so we try to make the transition as smooth as possible. We run a unique transition programme for our new students before they arrive at the Academy which involves visits to primary schools, one-to-one interviews and an induction day, all of which we know from experience helps to ensure a successful move to secondary school. Occasionally a student will need further support after they start at the Academy. In this case we offer a primary-secondary transition group which will ensure that, within a few weeks, a student is feeling secure, happy and confident about life at Southfields Academy.
Our students make amazing progress in such a variety of ways and we pride ourselves on the pastoral care that we give them. We see each child as an individual and we will do our utmost to ensure that the needs of all of our students are met during their time at the Academy to equip them for a successful future.
I look forward to welcoming your child to the Southfields Academy family in September.
