New Year 7 Students - September 2021
It is not long now until we will be welcoming our new cohort of Year 7 students to the Academy in September.
Mr Samuels, the Year 7 Head of Year, has recorded a message for all students and parents.
To help students with the transition to secondary school, a series of tasks have been set for completion over the summer holidays. These can be found by clicking here, or the button below. Thank you for your support in ensuring your child completes this work.
Rest assured that we are doing our utmost to ensure your child's transition to our community goes as smoothly as possible, and is as similar as we can make it to what we would do in normal times.
We will be in touch in August regarding the arrangements for the start of term on Friday 3rd September.
In the meantime, we wish you and your family a safe and relaxing summer.
To order uniform, please visit this page.
We have a waiting list for Year 7. If you would like your child to start Year 7 at Southfields Academy in September 2021, please contact our admissions team on 020 8875 2653.
Primary to Secondary Transition
We know that moving from primary to secondary school can sometimes be a big step for a child, and their parents or carers, so we try to make the transition as smooth as possible. We run a unique transition programme for our new students before they arrive at the Academy which involves visits to primary schools, one-to-one interviews and an induction day, all of which we know from experience helps to ensure a successful move to secondary school. Occasionally a student will need further support after they start at the Academy. In this case we offer a primary-secondary transition group which will ensure that, within a few weeks, a student is feeling secure, happy and confident about life at Southfields Academy.
In 2020 our GCSE results were the strongest ever for the Academy - 75% of our GCSE students achieved grades 9-4 in English and mathematics with 81% of our A Level students achieving A*-C, ensuring their place at some of the U.K.'s top universities. Students taking creative subjects, such as dance, achieve a 100% pass rate; this was the best performance across Wandsworth schools. Our music GCSE results placed Southfields Academy in the top 58 schools in England. In the Sixth Form, 75% of Sixth Form students who studied vocational subjects, such as music, business and graphics attained a Distinction* or Distinction grade. All this in the midst of a pandemic!
Our students make amazing progress in such a variety of ways and we pride ourselves on the pastoral care that we give them. We see each child as an individual and we will do our utmost to ensure that the needs of all of our students are met during their time at the Academy to equip them for a successful future.
I look forward to welcoming your child to the Southfields Academy family in September.
