New Year 7 Students - September 2019

We are very much looking forward to welcoming our new Year 7 cohort in September.  Interviews with students will be held in June and letters are currently being sent out to all parents to notify them when their child's interview will take place.  The information booklet referred to in the interview letter can be found at the bottom of this page.

If you would like to book a tour to visit the Academy and see the school in action please telephone 020 8875 2661 or email

If you are a late applicant for a Year 7 place for your child and would like to apply for Southfields Academy, please contact or telephone 020 8875 2653.

Primary to Secondary Transition

We know that moving from primary to secondary school can sometimes be daunting for a child, and their parents or carers, so we try to make the transition as smooth as possible.  We run a unique transition programme for our new students before they arrive at the Academy which involves visits to primary schools, one-to-one interviews and an induction day, all of which we know from experience helps to ensure a successful move to secondary school.  Occasionally a student will need further support after they start at the Academy.  In this case we offer a primary-secondary transition group which will ensure that, within a few weeks, a student is feeling secure, happy and confident about life at Southfields Academy.

The BBC has put together some information to support parents with children transferring to secondary school.  Click here to visit.

Our successes

We wanted to share with you the recent successes and achievements of our students.  We have been rated Outstanding or Good by Ofsted for the past 18 years.  In 2018 our GCSE results were the strongest ever for the Academy, with the exams more challenging than before.  89% of our students achieved grades 9-4 (previously A*-C) in English and 85% in mathematics.  In their A Level exams, our students achieved 100% pass rate with 33% A*-A.  Over 90 students gained a place at their first choice university with a high proportion being accepted into Russell Group universities.  Students who took vocational exams, such as sport, 3D design, graphics, art, music, performing arts, dance, health & social care and travel & tourism achieved 100% pass rate, with the highest proportion of Distinction* and Distinction grades of any secondary school in Wandsworth.

Our students make amazing progress in such a variety of ways and we pride ourselves on the pastoral care that we give them.  We see each as an individual and we will do our utmost to ensure that the needs of all of our students are met during their time at the Academy to equip them for a successful future.
